When you see a successful cafe business still growing after 8 years, you know they’re onto something. From the beautiful, artisan breads & delicious coffee to the warmth of the team, Harvest gets the important things right.

While business is humming along now, getting here has been a bumpy ride for owner, Sharon.

Originally from central Victoria, Sharon & her husband John were drawn to the warm weather & beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast with a plan to start their own bakery cafe business.

After setting up shop in the beachside suburb of Cotton Tree, they got to work building the business & becoming part of the local community.

When John passed away 2 years later, Sharon was left to manage things by herself. Despite having to deal with this unexpected, life-changing event – somehow, she pressed on. With the help of an amazing team and the local community, the business continued to grow.

In 2018, the team at Harvest faced their next big battle when they found out their building was about to be demolished. Moving from a successful location is a risk for any business, particularly a cafe. Would their regulars still make the trip? What if they just go somewhere else? They’re the kind of questions that keep a small business owner up at night.

After a long search, they found a site in a new office development a short drive away. While it was untested, it had plenty of room to grow – with 3 times the space of the old site.

Sharon didn’t have to wait long to find out the potential of the new location, they hit the ground running from day one. Packed tables and a procession of take away orders pay testament to the reputation they had built over the past 7 years.

Menu & Coffee

The brunch options range from simple house-made sourdough toast & butter croissants through to more extravagant options like the ‘Sweet Potato Savoury Waffles’ with zucchini, feta, bacon, poached egg and a chilli maple glaze…and a whole lot in between.

While the all day brunch menu is packed with more than enough tasty options to see you through, the lunch menu doesn’t miss the opportunity to take things up a notch. Like the ‘Harvest Reuben’ with pastrami, Swiss cheese, gherkins, dijon mustard, aioli & sauerkraut on toasted sourdough.

While the specialty here is artisan breads, the team have gone out of their way to include an impressive array of gluten-free, Paleo and vegetarian options. Like the Harvest Buddha Bowl with brown rice, cumin roasted pumpkin, beetroot hummus, avocado, blanched broccoli, pepitas, dukkah, vegan aioli & tortilla crisps – it’s almost enough to make me reconsider my life choices.

To match the full flavours of the menu, the coffee is suitably rich and smooth.

The Cat’s Pyjamas blend (roasted locally in QLD) is brewed with precision by the baristas at Harvest. The shiny La Marzocco Linea PB, Mythos grinder & Mahlkonig EK43 are put to good use, coaxing out the deep chocolate flavours of this blend.
