More About The Coffee
La Bella Estate, in the lush Sierra de las Minas, is renowned for its specialty coffee. Founded in 1960 by Teodoro’s father, Teodoro joined in 1999 and continued after his father’s death in 2012. As a fourth-generation farmer, Teodoro follows a rich family tradition. At La Bella, ripe coffee cherries are processed at their wet mill, fermented for 60-72 hours, then washed and dried for about 10 days. Villa Sarchi, a variety from Costa Rica, thrives at high altitudes. Despite past challenges like Coffee Leaf Rust, Guatemala remains a top producer of flavourful coffees, with small farmers and cooperatives driving quality and innovation.
