Since opening in 2008, Bittersweet Cafe has served Seven Miles coffee, a long-term partnership built on shared values and mutual support. “I’ve been using Seven Miles coffee for about 20 years now,” says Georgia, who co-founded the cafe with Lance. “Even before we opened this place.” Through staff changes, renovations, and the installation of a new pink espresso machine, one thing has remained constant: the coffee. “It’s strong, without being too strong. You can actually taste the coffee,” she adds.

With blends tailored to customer preferences and local barista training, Bittersweet delivers quality in every cup. Georgia explains, “We just think it’s a full-bodied flavour. It’s always consistent. The help we get, the training, the product—it all adds up.” That support goes beyond beans. From emergency deliveries to in-store training, the Seven Miles team is always just a call away. “They know how we work. They know how I work.”

Bittersweet is more than a cafe—it’s a family business built on cakes, coffee, and care. Georgia leads the front-of-house with warmth and precision, while Lance bakes from scratch each morning. Their display cabinet offers up to 40 different cakes a day, including the long-standing local favourite, mango and passionfruit roulade. “We just still love what we do… Lance loves making cakes and I love making coffee and making people happy,” Georgia says.

For many in the community, Bittersweet is a daily ritual. It’s where names are remembered, regulars are greeted like friends, and consistency is king. “Customers like to be recognised. They like to be acknowledged. And they like the same thing each and every time they come.”

Opening every day at 6:30am, the cafe serves house-made hollandaise, boxed-up birthday cakes, and a sense of belonging. Over the years, new workflows, ordering apps, and menu updates have helped the business grow—but the heart of Bittersweet remains unchanged: love for the product, love for the people.
